Low Decile Schools Subsidy

A successful fundraiser in Auckland will give students access to watch the RNZB perform.

Ballet Foundation Trustee Rosie Dunphy and her husband Mark hosted a wonderful fundraiser at their home in Auckland, with a performance by the RNZB. Guests generously donated up to $2,000 each, helping to raise over $25,000.

The funds raised at this event have been used to off-set costs for students from low-decile schools, including the cost of their tickets and paying for the bus to get students to the venue.

Many of the students who are able to attend these performances have never been at the ballet before, and some have never been inside a theatre! It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone – the students love seeing the production and RNZB dancers love having a full audience of school kids. Children are a wonderful audience – they gasp and applaud with abandon.

The Ballet Foundation supported this programme for two years:
2018 – $25,200 grant given
2019 – $15,000 grant given
