2022 Annual Report
Despite the ongoing impact of Covid 19 on our activities, and the RNZB performance season, support for the Auckland En Pointe Patrons and the recently established Wellington En Pointe Patrons continues to grow. In 2022 the Foundation reached $710,173 in investments.
New initiatives:
We partnered with Visa Wellington on a Plate for “A Cinderella Celebration” to coincide with the RNZB season of Cinderella.
We supported RNZB Education projects directly with a donation from Auckland En Pointe Patron, Andy Coster: DANCEwithME, performance and workshop series.
The Auckland and Wellington En Pointe Patrons held their first joint event to coincide with the opening of Cinderella. A morning tea with Loughlan Prior and Claire Cowan, followed by watching the dancers take class on stage.

Working with the RNZB:
Grants to the RNZB totalled $105,700.
For the second year, with support from an anonymous donor, funded the RNZB Foundation Scholar at the RNZB. The 2022 Scholar was Monet Galea-Hewitt.
Students from Baradene College taking part in a ‘Musical Moves’ workshop with four Auckland Philharmonia live musicians led by RNZB Dance Educator Jamie Delmonte.

$15,000 grant made to the RNZB for Loughlan Prior’s new work for the Wanaka Festival of Colour 2023
$8,000 grant made to the RNZB for Musical Moves dance workshops in Auckland, based on RNZB’s production of Cinderella.
$9,000 grant made to the RNZB for Ballet in a Box performances of Tāne and the Kiwi, and dance workshops, in Auckland.
$5,000 grant made to RNZB for DANCEwithME, dance workshops and performance for low decile schools in Manukau.
$10,000 grant made to the RNZB towards the digital editing suite, as part of the St James refurbishment.
$23,700 grant made to the RNZB towards enhanced facilities for the dancers, as part of the St James refurbishment.

Investment:
Craig’s Investment Partners continues to manage the Foundation’s funds under a Discretionary Investment Management Service.
A conservative investment strategy and our granting policy resulted in continued growth of the Foundation’s investments.
Other Activities:
Total notified bequests are 26; our supporters and donors continue to grow. The Foundation received 3 bequests in 2022.
Governance:
Throughout 2022 Jane Meares (Chairperson), Lady Lilias Bell, Louise Binns, Sarah Cole, Ann-Louise Gower, Isaac Hikaka, Melanie Morris, Victoria Muir and Ian Webster remained as Trustees.
Trustees are appointed in accordance with clause 7.3 of our Rules and, in addition to the skills outlined, the Board has regard to the need for representation from different regions within New Zealand. We were pleased to continue to have representation from each of New Zealand’s four main centres. The Foundation endeavours to have national reach.
Auckland is represented by 4 trustees, Wellington by 3, Christchurch by 1 and Dunedin by 1.
The Auckland Trustees are supported by a committee including Ian Webster (Chair), Louise Binns, Sarah Cole, Diane Field, Isaac Hikaka, Sarah Reid and Carol Ross.
Wellington Trustees are support by a Committee including Ann-Louise Gower (Chair), Lady Susan Arnold, Lady Lilias Bell, Sarah Bartlett, Jane Meares, Sarah Singleton and Anna Hinderwell.
Christchurch Trustees are supported by a Committee including Melanie Morris (Chair) and Ros Burdon.
Dunedin/Otago Trustees are supported by a Committee including Victoria Muir (Chair), Claire Hazledine (Queenstown), Vickie Fulton (Wanaka).
Hawkes Bay Committee Lenise Lendrum, Nathanael Skelton, Clare Gordon.
The Foundation could not exist without the unstinting support and indefatigable effort of my fellow trustees and all the subcommittee members. They give voluntarily and generously of their time and other resources and contribute to the Foundation with their enthusiasm and vision.
